BRIDGE WORK

KCA Engineers has provided civil engineering, surveying and project management services on various bridge projects throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Although we do not specialize in bridge design work, KCA has participated as a team member and project manager for a number of bridge projects for various clients.

Approach Design - 40^th Street Bridge Over Union Pacific Railroad, Emeryville, CA. KCA provided bridge approach design services for the extension of 40^th Street over the UP trackage near the I-580/I-80 interchange. Bridge design services were provided by Mark Thomas & Co. Careful roadway design attention was required because of access requirements to adjacent commercial developments and to facilitate horizontal curves at both approaches.

Country Club Drive Bridge over Laguna Creek, Town of Moraga, CA. As contract City Engineer for the Town of Moraga, KCA provided bridge design services to the Town. Our work included extensive preliminary design, consultation work with the community, permitting with State Fish & Game, and funding applications and negotiations with Caltrans. Structural design services were provided by a sub-consultant engaged by KCA Engineers. Surveys, topographic mapping, bridge approach civil design and construction inspection and management was provided by KCA.

Other work in past years has included Crestview Drive Bridge over the Contra Costa Canal in Pittsburg, CA, several designs for bridges over major irrigation canals in the Vaca Valley Business Park in Vacaville, CA. Additionally, KCA prepared conceptual design studies for various crossings of Mission Creek for the Mission Bay Project in San Francisco and provided plan review and inspection services for a bridge over the Southern Pacific Railroad in Hercules, CA.
